If you fancy and extended stay in Gambia and change of scenery while you are there, you might try an excursion to Cape Verde. These islands are quite different to Africa - more like Brazil I'm told.

My wife and I took a flight there while on a three week holiday in The Gambia and really enjoyed it. We travelled by air from Yundum airport, via Dakar to Praia on Santiago in the Cape Verde Islands.

You'll need plenty of cash to buy your tickets from the Air Senegal office in Banjul as they don't currently accept credit cards or cheques and £350 per person is a heck of a lot of Dalasi!
